Commencement Update

Dear students, faculty, and staff,

In response to the COVID-19 situation and like many other colleges and universities nation-wide, City Colleges has made the difficult but necessary decision to transition our May 2nd Commencement ceremony for associate degree earners to a virtual celebration held in early summer.

We are committed to fully acknowledging our students outstanding accomplishments and are exploring the creative opportunities a virtual format will offer, including the chance to accommodate unlimited guests. A new date and more details will follow. If you have innovative ideas to contribute to making the virtual event our most special commencement ever, please send them to us at commencement@ccc.edu.

Students who have already purchased a cap and gown for the original ceremony will be issued a refund. We are working with Jostens now to establish a refund process and will be in touch with further directions.

Commencement is often the best time of the year for our students, faculty and staff — it certainly is our favorite season — but protecting the health and safety of our students, their loved ones, and our faculty and staff are our highest priorities at this time.

We are committed to our students — we know they can and will persist despite these challenging times and earn their college credential. We will honor their perseverance and success this summer.

Thank you,
Chancellor Juan Salgado & Provost Mark Potter
